My wife was hit by a lady yesterday; low speed t bone . Her and my daughter so far seem fine thankfully. The person who hit them? She was a real piece of work. Expired license, expired tabs, and her insurance card said expired (but she insisted it was up to date).
Well, thankfully, she did have insurance and they are accepting fault! So we don’t have to pay.
Wife’s car for your time:
I drop off on Thursday just as a snow storm is rolling in but I don’t want to push it back til next Monday as the sooner it’s fixed, the better. I’m curious what they’ll say about the tire situation. The accident took a chunk out of the rubber so it should be replaced but I would assume the other side should be covered as well but I dunno what they’ll say to me about that theory.

4-10 inches of soggy snow at last reporting. Minneapolis is right at the border where they are predicting lower volumes so it could easily be higher or lower if the storm is 50-100 miles farther south or north of wheee they are currently predicting.

If it were an AWD Subaru, I could provide you the exact arguments to make to get all four tires replaced. They worked for me when my WRX was t-boned.

They may t ry to prorate the tire. If a replacement costs $120 , and you have 50% tread remaining, they’ll cover $60 towards a new tire. You’ll probably be hit up for the rest, because they owe you a half worn tire, and they will only install new tires. Since you’re not at fault they might be nice and cover it 100%. If it was the insured’s tire, that’s how they would treat her most likely. Depends on the insurer.

From what I’ve seen on C- Maxes lately you’ll need new paint there soon anyway

I was an insurance adjuster in a past life. I’ve had every argument in the book hurled at me to replace multiple tires and never paid for more than one. Subaru’s were especially fun because I’d have the new one shaved to matching tread depth to match the others. Otherwise damage isn’t too bad, looks like all repair and no real replacement other than the rocker trim that’s textured and not repairable. On the bright side FREE ALIGNMENT!

Huh; hers looks good(except for the accident damage). We were in Oregon when we got it; been in Minneapolis for a year and a half.
